First and foremost a very happy and healthy new year to you! I am never sure whether the wish of “May you live in interesting times” is meant as a curse or a blessing; for many if not all of us, we are unlikely to witness more interesting times than we have over the last year in our lifetimes. It has shown how fragile we are to nature, the relative importance of money compared to happiness and health, as well as highlighting the true worth of family and friendships. When Covid is finally over, let us hope we all remember the good things that have come from adversity and to be grateful for what we have – emotionally and physically. We are genuine advocates of addressing the ever-increasing mental health challenges - generally in society and particularly in the farming sector. Please keep an eye out for yourself, friends, family, colleagues or employees who may be struggling and keeping it to themselves. This month marks our first anniversary of setting up the firm. From all perspectives we are so happy with how it has gone, better than we ever dared hope and truly humbled by the support we have been shown by our clients. Our culture, service proposition and approach to the work seems to have struck a chord in the market – with several clients observing how differently we approach the accounts meeting. This newsletter covers the timely issues with some factual articles and some thoughts and commentary on current matters in the farming sector. If you are a client of ours, we hope you find the newsletter interesting and informative and we look forward to discussing any of these articles with you. If you are not yet a client of ours, we would be very happy to offer a (free) second opinion, commentary and analysis of your 2020 accounts to see if you think you are getting the best value from your current accountant. In the meantime, thank you for your support over the last year – clients, friends and fellow professionals!
